Hey there! I’ve got another delicious and healthy smoothie for you today. If you read my post for Very Berry Almond Butter Smoothie then you know I generally have a smoothie for lunch every day. I prefer a lighter lunch and small healthy snacks throughout the day like my Almond Butter Granola Bars. I try not to repeat the same smoothies all the time but every now and then I get on a kick with a certain one. My orange creamsicle smoothie isn’t as filling as the very berry almond butter smoothie but it is just as tasty and full of vitamin c! I’ve adapted this recipe from Sallys Baking Addiction. I really loved her smoothie but I wanted to add a few of my own touches.

Why orange creamsicle?

Well, if you have been following me you know I’ve done a couple of orange creamsicle related posts, Orange Creamsicle Madeleines and my Orange Creamsicle Italian Twist cookies. Obviously I’m a bit obsessed. There is this amazing local place that makes the absolute best alcoholic orange creamsicle drink and when I don’t want to go there or want the fat from it I just make myself this orange creamsicle smoothie instead. No, it’s not exactly the same but it’s definitely a great healthy stand-in.

What fruits are in orange creamsicle smoothie?

There’s only a couple of fruits in this smoothie, just banana, and orange. I’ve done this recipe before with adding just a little bit of pineapple and it tastes great too. I sometimes will add some carrots or zucchini for some added health benefits. If you want to add other veggies go for it but stick to things that don’t have a lot of flavors.

What else is in the smoothie?

Greek yogurt is in this smoothie it helps make it creamy and I just love to get my daily dose of greek yogurt.

I also add almond milk. I try to add almonds or almond milk through my food since almonds help with headaches and dizziness as I mention in Natural Vertigo Treatments and How to Naturally Relieve a Headache. If you aren’t allergic to almonds I highly recommend adding them to your diet.

I also like to add old fashion rolled oats to this fruit smoothie because they help keep you fuller longer. If you have a health issue and cannot eat oats you can leave them out but they have great health benefits if you can have them!

Beside using just the orange sections I like to zest it and add that in as well. If you want to use the other half of the orange you can use the juice or just use OJ from your fridge!

I add a bit of vanilla extract to this smoothie because it lends a hand in giving that creamsicle flavor.

Lastly I add water and/or ice. I like to use a frozen banana but if it’s really hot out ill add extra ice and some water so the smoothie blends but is still cold. Living in the sunshine state things get melty pretty fast!
